Pompeii is one of the most popular
tourist attractions around Naples
and if you choose to opt for this
excursion you will not be
disappointed. The city of Pompeii
was destroyed by the catastrophic
eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
It was completely buried under
meters of ash and pumice and
remained unknown to the rest of the
world for nearly 1700 years until it
was discovered by pure chance. Since
then, excavations and restoration
work never stopped and Pompeii was
declared as a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. Thanks to the immense amount
of research and restoration you will
be able to relive what it was like
to live in a Roman city thousands of
years ago and you can be sure to
experience something you won’t
forget. |
